ASUU Suspends Strike print
Nigeria’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has suspended its two-month old strike over government’s refusal to properly fund the university system and implement the agreement reached three years ago.
The industrial action began on December 5, 2011. Students billed to graduate were caught up in the strike; and fresh and existing students were sentenced to idle weeks at home.
Lecturers are expected to resume work immediately.
An agreement to suspend the strike was reached today at a meeting at the University of Abuja.
Details later.
