The on-going second edition of Nigerian Idol is gradually reaching its peak as the second set of finalists was unveiled on January 20, 2012.
It was a look of surprise when the voting results were out as it brought mixed reactions from both the judges and the audience. Contestants who were seen as favourites to clinch a spot in the top ten were eliminated one after the other.
While speaking on the outcome of the voting, judge Yinka Davies expressed her dissatisfaction; ‘the results weren’t a reflection of the talent presented.’
However, the Head Youth Segment Etisalat Nigeria, Mr. Elvis Daniel, opined that ‘it wasn’t such a surprise as the result of the voting may not always mirror the talent because it is the decision of the viewers’. Daniels advised people to ‘vote as much as possible’ so that their favourite contestant will eventually make it through.
The winners who made it to the second stage were elated about the results. One of the contestants, Honey, the only male among the winners who made it to the next  stage expressed his gratitude to Nigerians for giving him the opportunity and promised to improve on the level of his performances.
As the show unfolds, all awaits the announcement of the contestant that will go home with prize money of $100,000 (N15.6M).
